Val Friday   

volunteering has always been my forte. Moving to Wales, raising my children, it was the natural thing for me to do. being A Rastafari born and raised in North London,  1st Windrush generation born in the UK. Community ment survival, community ment an amalgamation of culture's. living and growing together. 

I started my career as a play leader and   youth worker working with children with severe disabilities in East London. moving to Wales, Cardiff, there was already a sense of community.  it started with a game of rounders over the park, then it was about providing play/educational services for our toddlers. We piloted the 1st community house in Wales and hosted the 1st social housing street party.  I went on to becoming chair of the Tenants Consultive committee (TCC), member of the board of directors and trustee for the Welsh Assemble funded Equalities organisation.  My work was volunteering and a opportunity came up where I could really make a difference. it was a conservation charity that gave back to the heart of the communities, it also supported community education and gave away free educational resources. it was here where I learned so much about the impact we are having on our planet and the state we are leaving it in for the next generations our children. The  climate is changing and pollution is said to be a big factor in the earth warming up.
